Capital Rx
We are immensely proud to share that Capital Rx’s Bonnie Hui-Callahan, PharmD, CDCES, Senior Director, Clinical Programs, was listed as one of Modern Healthcare’s Leading Women for 2025 under the “Rising Star” category!
This prestigious program acknowledges and honors women executives from all sectors of the healthcare industry for their contributions to care delivery improvement, health equity, policy and gender equity in healthcare leadership. To qualify, Rising Stars can only have held their current role for three years maximum and must have made a measurable impact at their company and/or within healthcare broadly.
Bonnie has been an integral leader at Capital Rx since joining the company’s mission in 2021. She was promoted to Senior Director of Clinical Programs in March 2024 and has developed numerous pharmacy benefit-related clinical programs focused on driving cost savings, promoting patient safety, and improving quality of care.
“I am honored to receive this recognition as a woman leader in healthcare, and even more so as a working mother. Balancing a career in this field with the responsibilities of motherhood is both a challenge and a privilege. It’s a reminder that leadership isn’t just about titles – it's about resilience, compassion, time management, and showing up for those who depend on us, whether in the workplace or at home,” Bonnie shared. “I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to play a role in driving sustainable solutions for our patients and clients while also modeling strength and dedication for my children and colleagues.”
Over the past three years, Bonnie has driven a three-fold expansion of Capital Rx’s clinical program portfolio. She and her team revamped Capital Rx’s opioid safety program, resulting in a significant reduction in daily opioid exposure for members, and launched an adherence program for diabetes, hypertension, and statin medications that showed a 9.5% improvement in adherence rates, among many other accomplishments.
“Bonnie is not only a respected leader in the organization who has transformed our suite of clinical programs, but she’s a mom of four! I am in constant awe of everything Bonnie juggles with such ease at any given time,” said Sara Izadi, PharmD, Capital Rx’s Chief Clinical Officer. “Bonnie is a dynamic leader who guides her team members toward achieving their goals, providing clear feedback, delegating, and having challenging conversations when needed. She is highly collaborative and has an ability to influence others while orchestrating all parts of any large- or small-scale projects to drive them to completion. Her naturally positive energy is infectious, brings the best out of those around her, and inspires them to work toward a common goal.”
Bonnie also helped found the first affinity group for Asian Americans at Capital Rx: CAPTAIN. She has hosted over a dozen virtual events for Capital Rx’s hundreds of employees between 2022 and 2024 tailored towards discussing challenges as women of color in the workplace, celebrating Asian holidays, and promoting overall health and wellbeing.
“The roles held by the honorees on our 2025 list of Leading Women and Rising Stars vary greatly but they all have one thing in common — a commitment to helping their organizations reach the clinical, operational and financial goals,” said Mary Ellen Podmolik, editor-in-chief of Modern Healthcare. “Their leadership and achievements are propelling the industry forward, both in terms of improving the patient experience and serving as mentors for other women in healthcare.”
The profiles of all the honorees are featured in the March 10, 2025, issue of MH magazine and online at www.ModernHealthcare.com/LeadingWomen. For more information or questions about the Leading Women awards program, please contact MH Awards at mhawards@modernhealthcare.com.
