The last few months have been busy ones at Capital Rx. We’ve welcomed a new CFO, discussed our partnership with NYCFC, held webinars, and won awards! Read on for a round-up of our team’s newsworthy accomplishments that happened in Q2 of 2024.
Capital Rx Earns National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Accreditation
In early April, Capital Rx announced that it had received the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) – a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality – Accreditation in Utilization Management. This voluntary review process proved Capital Rx has the necessary systems, processes, and personnel in place to meet the NCQA’s strict quality standards.
Specifically, NCQA Standards recognize organizations that have open access networks, can improve service quality, and utilize customized structures to meet purchaser needs.
Not only does this accreditation offer further validity to JUDI® capabilities, but it also is a critical qualification that demonstrates just how dedicated Capital Rx is to delivering the highest level of clinical support possible for our clients and members.
2 Popular Webinars with Live Demos Helped Illustrate JUDI’s Modern Capabilities
Since April, we have held two webinars that demonstrate JUDI’s efficiency, scalability, and flexibility, especially in situations where quick action is required.
The first of these webinars – M3P Forum - A Live Q&A with Capital Rx – brought together Capital Rx’s Chief Technology Officer, Ryan Kelly, and VP of Government Program Operations, Jason Barretto. Together, they broke down new requirements under the Medicare Payment Prescription Act (M3P), and Ryan performed a live demo of JUDI’s M3P solution to the attendees. This turnkey, end-to-end solution was built and implemented within JUDI in a matter of weeks, and it provides plan sponsors with a reliable solution they can implement ahead of the October deadline.
Our second webinar, The Story of a Claim, went in-depth into the inner workings of pharmacy claims adjudication. Kevin Sundquist (VP of Product Management) explained everything that goes into this complex and important process. He also showed how JUDI makes the claims adjudication process faster and more accurate, while also providing deeper insight into a claim’s status and the reasoning behind why it adjudicated the way it did.
Watch the replays of both webinars and see JUDI’s capabilities for yourself!
Capital Rx Appointed Antonio Garcia Cueto as Chief Financial Officer
The Capital Rx team got a little bigger in June! In addition to onboarding more team members across the organization, Antonio Garcia Cueto joined as our new Chief Financial Officer!
Antonio previously served as Eden Health’s Chief Financial and Operating Officer. Sharing why he decided to join Capital Rx, he said, “The U.S. healthcare system is riddled with inefficiency, and waste is rampant. Capital Rx’s ability to drive down costs, improve transparency, and deliver an exceptional patient care experience drew me to this role, and I’m looking forward to helping accelerate the pace of change for things that many people don’t believe can be changed.”
We are very excited to have Antonio join the team and look forward to innovating pharmacy benefits together!
Capital Rx’s Customer Care Team Wins 5 Stevie® Awards for Customer Service and 2 American Business Awards
Capital Rx’s Customer Care Team is renowned in the industry, boasting unparalleled Member and Client NPS numbers. This dedication to our clients and their members was further proven when the team won 5 Stevie Awards for Customer Service & Sales, including a Gold award for Achievement in Customer Experience. Lisa Ellerhorst (Senior Director, Customer Care) and Gismell Abud (Senior Director, Customer Care Support & QA) also took home two Silver awards for Contact Center Leader of the Year and Customer Service Training Professional of the Year, respectively.
That wasn’t all – Capital Rx also won two Silver American Business Awards for Most Innovative Company of the Year - Up to 2,500 Employees and Company of the Year - Health Products & Services.
As if that wasn’t enough, two Capital Rx team members – William Tafoya (SVP, Customer Care) and Lakysa Robinson Green (Senior Customer Care Pharmacy Technician) took home CCW Excellence Awards for Customer Contact Leader of the Year and CMP Research Best of the Best: Agents in Customer Contact, respectively.
We could not be prouder of our team for their accomplishments!
AJ Joined the MedCity Pivot Podcast to Discuss the Evolution of Pharmacy Benefit Management
In April, AJ joined the MedCity News Pivot podcast, during which time he discussed recent developments and trends within pharmacy benefits, healthcare’s slow trajectory toward unbundling PBM services, and how similar healthcare infrastructure is to the electrical grid.
To the final point, he also discussed why JUDI is such an important platform and why Capital Rx’s mission – providing the electronic infrastructure our nation needs to deliver the healthcare we deserve – is imperative.
Capital Rx’s Clinical Team Presented the Impact of Point-of-Sale Duplicate Therapy Safety Alert on Concomitant DPP-4 Inhibitor and GLP-1 Agonist Use
Capital Rx’s Clinical team recently completed a study seeking to measure the potential to reduce the potential for instances with day supply overlap. They then presented a poster with their findings at the Pharmacy Quality Alliance 2024 Annual Meeting.
Congratulations are in order for everyone who worked on this study and the poster, including: Lauren Carroll, PharmD, BCACP (Manager, Clinical Programs), Angela Kalantarova, PharmD (Senior Manager, Clinical Programs), Brigitte Kinsey (Senior Manager, Clinical Analytics), Bonnie Hui-Callahan, PharmD, CDCES, (Senior Director, Clinical Programs), Jay Tran, PharmD, MHA(VP, Clinical Operations), and Sara Izadi, PharmD (Chief Clinical Officer).
Bridget Mulvenna Explained How to Manage Pharmacy Benefit Spend in a GLP-1 World (and Revisited the Podcast to Expand on It)
Bridget has unique insight into the pharmacy benefits landscape, thanks to her decades of experience working on the plan sponsor side of the equation. Recently, she penned an article where she explained the ways plan sponsors can manage pharmacy benefit spend amidst the explosion of GLP-1s in the market – and the exorbitant costs associated with them.
To follow up on this article, she also joined the Astonishing Healthcare podcast for its 21st episode, “Managing Pharmacy Costs in a GLP-1 World.” She expanded on the points she made in the article and expounded on strategies – like coinsurance, prior authorization, and third-party point solutions – that can be leveraged to manage costs while ensuring equitable access to these medications.
AJ Loiacono Joined a Q&A to Discuss Why New York City FC & Capital Rx Is More Than a Sleeve Partnership
Capital Rx’s partnership with the New York City FC is unique for multiple reasons, but it is grounded in a common mission: to serve the people of NYC. Capital Rx Co-Founder & CEO AJ Loiacono, New York City FC Vice President of Partnerships Andres Gonzalez, and KLUTCH Sports Group Head of Global Partnerships and Consulting Andrew Feinberg recently got together for a Q&A to discuss why this is more than a simple sleeve partnership.
You can read that Q&A here or on LinkedIn!
